Super bloated & ?

Ugh! The 1st IUI I was totally fine. Could it be that I produced more follicles on this second one? Because the last round I didn't do straight injectable. I feel like I've gained a ton and my stomach is bulging. I drink one cup of half-caf in the morning then water the rest of the day and it won't budge. I have even cut my food portions and I'm walking every day. I don't mind gaining weight and looking fat if there is a + at the end of the 2 weeks! :-p I have a bad feeling it's going to get worse when I start taking Progesterone tomorrow.

So now for my question. Why would my RE prescribe progesterone? After my procedure, they told me to check my portal to see if I needed to start progesterone, but never said why. I am to take it starting day 3 after iui and it doesn't say when to stop. The back of the pill bottle says "Pregnant or becoming pregnant discuss the use with your Doctor". I'm pretty sure if it was bad during the 2ww, he wouldn't  prescribe it, but what's it for?

Thanks!

    Good luck!
Progesterone is 100 fine and lots of time needed during the tww. If you don't have enough on your own and get pregnant it could lead to miscarriage. Some re's test for this at 7dpo and some, like mine just make everyone take it after ovulation until a negative pregnancy test or a positive one. My re says when I get pregnant I will have to take them during the first trimester too. It's one of those things that won't work, only can help

I think the more response you have from the meds, the more follies you get, the more bloated you feel. Like you said, hopefully it'll be worth it! About the progesterone, I had to go back for bloodwork after my IUI. The progesterone was only prescribed if I had a deficiency. It is supposed to support the baby to implantation and keep a pregnancy.

Mobile bumping, but in regards to your 1st sentence. ....even after trigger, iui, and o? I would think that after o, follicles would no longer exist and therefore the bloating would subside.

I felt super bloated and gained weight during my injects cycles. I was prescribed progesterone suppositories during 2WW during those cycles too, they made me have mood swings and drove me crazy so I did stop them on my own close to when AF arrived.

The bloat could be caused from a mild case of OHSS, which can be serious. How was your response to the injects? Did they test your e2 at all??

In any case, I'd switch from water to Gatorade or some other drink with electrolytes. Eating lots of lean protein will also help if the bloat is indeed OHSS. Keep an eye out for sudden weight gain as well, 5 lbs in one day, and call your RE if it gets worse. Good Luck!
