Chia seeds

I want to start working these into my diet because they're so nutritious. Does anyone eat them and how much do you eat daily ? Ive seen anywhere from a tablespoon to people not even measuring. I'm real petite if it matters. Also Has it affected your supply? I read an article and it said for pregnant and lactating mothers to consult a dr beforehand so I'm just curious.

Re: Chia seeds

  • I don't have any supply issues thankfully! I'm just hesitant because I don't want to cause any! Thanks for the recipe that sounds yummy, I may have to try it soon.

  • I eat chia seeds every day - either in cereal, snack bars, or probiotic drink (Mama Chia). I definitely have not noticed any changes in my supply.

  • I eat Chia every day in my oatmeal. I'm also petite and use a tablespoon. I think it has actually helped my supply. The Omega 3s in Chia are great for baby's brain and eye development!

Side note- pretty much EVERYTHING (even prenatal vitamins) will give the warning about pregnant or lactating mothers to consult a doctor before using. It's just covering themselves from the liability.

  • I have been eating chia seeds for years, before, during and after pregnancy.  I eat them 2-3 times a day.  I don'tt really measure, just dump about a TBSP into: oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, smoothies, salads, etc.  I even make a chia seed pudding for DD with raw cow"s milk, honey, vanilla & the seeds (delicious, btw).  They didn't cause any supply issues that I'm aware of.

  • Thanks so much ladies. Can't wait to start eating them!
