Pool question

I was invited to go to a friends pool tomorrow since it will be so hot. Are there certain things I should know when it comes to a baby and a pool? Obviously he'll always be in my arms. I have swim trunks, rash guard top, sunscreen, a hat, and swim diapers.

Should I get the baby float thing? Can he only be in if its up to a certain temperature? I also breastfeed so should I clean myself off before? I know that might be a stupid question but I'm a ftm and anxious.

 I really like to be as prepared as possible. I think the level I take it to can make my dh a little nuts. haha
