We are vacationing at a lake house in Maine this summer, in a month actually! I just posted about this to Facebook, including my plans to consume lots of lobster and clams and fried shrimp since we won't be far from the ocean and the many terrific seafood places.
DH then emailed me to say he didn't know why I was so excited to eat lobster since I am not allowed to have it. That's crap, right? I mean as long as it's well cooked and I'm not eating it for breakfast lunch and dinner it's fine, right?
I swore I wouldn't complain about being pregnant because it took us so long to get here, but damn if I can't eat lobster and steamers while spending the 4th of July in MAINE, that will truly suck!
Re: LOBSTER - Can I have it pls?
It's on the no-no list that my RE sent me. Honestly, I wouldn't chance it if it were me.
ETA: steamers are in the "safe" fish column, so at least there's that

Avoid seafood high in mercury
Seafood can be a great source of protein, and the omega-3 fatty acids in many fish can promote your baby's brain development. However, some fish and shellfish contain potentially dangerous levels of mercury. Too much mercury could damage your baby's developing nervous system.
The bigger and older the fish, the more mercury it's likely to contain. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourage pregnant women to avoid:
So what's safe? Some types of seafood contain little mercury. Although concerns have been raised about the level of mercury in any type of canned tuna, the FDA and EPA say pregnant women can safely eat up to 12 ounces (340 grams) a week. Similarly, the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend 8 to 12 ounces of seafood a week for pregnant women. That's about two average meals of:
Not all researchers agree with these limits, however, citing a study that noted no negative effects for women who ate more seafood than the FDA-approved guidelines.
Even when I was pregnant with DS ... I continued to eat Shellfish ... as long as everything is in moderation of course!!!!
Enjoy the lobster!!!!! Yummy!
Also, OP, I would kindly inform your husband that he cannot dictate what you eat. It is not like you are washing sharp needles down with alcohol. It is a freaking lobster.

Mmmm I'm not even a huge lobster eater but this has made me totally crave it! Better hit up red lobster soon!
I don't know why but all I can think is hot dog down a hallway when I see this.
Hi pretz!! I had to come play since you are here too. Now I have Cole in December and you in January. Yay!
Love this response. :-)
Will baby #3 be another girl?

Yes! This is super confusing. My doctor pretty much said to just avoid sushi and unpasteurized cheeses, and everything else in moderation. She even said I could eat steak cooked medium if I couldn't deal with well done.
I have informed Hubby that I will indeed be consuming lobster and if he doesn't like it he can suck it! I think he's just overexcited because he started reading up on pregnancy yesterday, which actually is really nice. But not if it means he's going to micromanage! Haha...

January be where it at, yo. No Jimmy John's freakouts here.
