STM's rectal pressure?

This may even happen with a first pregnancy but this is my second. I'm 23 weeks and have been feeling extra pressure in my behind but its not a constipation or urge to use the restroom. It's more of a heavy feeling especially when I sit down on a toilet or at other random times. Anyone else feeling that? I've had my cervix checked and its remained long and closed so I'm assuming its just pressure from how the baby is positioned and my muscles aren't as tight as they were from the first pregnancy...let me know! Thanks!

Re: STM's rectal pressure?

  • I didn't have that until baby dropped around 35 weeks last time. Once he dropped it was nice to be able to breathe and eat normally again, but the pressure on my rectum and vagina was so uncomfortable.

You are probably just carrying low and/or baby is head down resulting in more pressure down there.

  • I have had a ton more pressure this time around too except mine is more like I feel like she is going to pop out after I am on my feet too much. My dr said welcome to baby 2!

This exactly!!!  The pressure has been crazy so far.  I know that I had it bad with DS at the end of my pregnancy, but I wasn't expecting it at 26 weeks!

  • I'm a FTM, but I have this problem too, it makes me feel like I need to poop all of the time! I had to stop running at 22 weeks because I kept thinking I would poop my pants. Even though this is my first pregnancy, it may also be due to loose muscle tone, as I had emergency abdominal surgery just a few months before I got pregnant, and my muscles were really still in the healing process when they started getting stretched out again.

+1.  I seriously didn't feel this way until 35+ weeks last time.

I have a ton of constant pressure this time around. I'm feeling pressure in my entire pelvic region. I definitely didn't feel this when pregnant with DS. It's amazing how much harder the second time around is compared to the first.

I have the same pressure and have been for a while. I talked to my dr and basically she said it's just because it's the second, and also my girl is super low and head down... but seriously it feels like she's about to come out sometimes!! Freaks me out.

  • This was the norm for me with dd1 and this baby. Both were:are very low though. It started around 21 weeks and lasted till the end that time, and seems about the same this time.
