Recommendations for day care near downtown/little italy

What are the return-to-work moms doing for day care? Everything I've seen is over $1000 per month. Are there other options?

Can you use someone who isn't in downtown? I am in east county and we pay 170 a week. We use a licensed in home provider. We are looking at centers for next year and most in this area seem to be around 200 a week or less. The YMCA has a Childcare resource center where they keep a list of licensed daycare providers. They can help you find one near your work or home. I would also check out any place you are considering and make sure they don't have any major licensing violations. Good luck!
