Pregnant after IF

Cervical discomfort

Okay so maybe it's just my crazy PAIF brain kicking in again. But I'v been experiencing discomforting and aching in my cervical area since Thursday or Friday. I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow with twins. I don't know if this is normal or if I should be worried about my cervix thinning/shortening/opening. I have a huge fear of going into preterm labor. My next OB appt is a week from today. Should I just wait it out and talk to them about it next week? Or should I call and see if they want to see me this week about it?

TIA!

  • Agree with others. Just call. I was feeling some pressure but thought it was the norm for the twins. It IS the doc said but at the same time we were able to catch my cervical shortening pretty early. Not that this is going to happen with you (don't want to scare you) but it's best to just call.

Definitely call, it is their job to take care of pregnant women. I always think my concerns are silly when I call, and the nurse always reassures me that they'd much rather have me call than miss something that could be serious.

  • when in doubt, call.  I'm sure the nurse at my OB's office is getting tired of my phone calls... but that doesn't stop me from calling with any concerns.  PAIF & PGAL brain is horrible....and hearing her say, "it's normal" makes me feel a whole lot better.  She ALWAYS says that I can come in if I will feel better.  I don't always, but I have a couple of times.

I'd also say call.  But try not to panic.  I've had a ton of cervical/pelvic pressure and occasional pain throughout this twin pregnancy and after multiple checks was told I have a "cervix of steel."  (true story, the nurse really said that).  They put a lot of pressure on it, so it may just be the usual ache.  But definitely call and get it checked out.

  • I called and they want to do a cervical check, so I'm heading to the OB office in about 2 hours. I'm sure it's probably nothing, but I'd rather be cautions then to let it go and have it be something that needs attention right away. DH even got his boss to let him leave work for a bit to go with me :)
