Milk just came in and my right breast is really hard and more full than the left. Is there anything I can do to bring it down? Pump only the right side maybe? Help please.
I believe it is referred to as stud & dud. My left was my stud until a bout of mastitis then my right became the stud to compensate. When my milk first came in, massage and hot compresses along with hand expression helped to relieve the tension of the engorgement on that side. You could pump as well but I would pump both sides or you'll further the unevenness by stimulating the over-producer to produce more. It should level out after a few days to a week. At least that's what mine did. HTH!

Don't pump. Just nurse from that side first so that baby empties breast. Then offer the other breast until baby is full and pulls off. You should avoid pumping for the first couple weeks so that you don't cause over supply issues such as foremilk and hindmilk imbalance.

I'm kind of at an disadvantage because my LO just went 24 hours and wouldnt nurse so I had to pump plus supplement with formula per the doctors orders because he developed bad jaundice.
My right always has produced more, it's normal. I wouldn't do anything extra though your boob will figure it out and stop getting engorged but know that most women have one that produces more.
I wouldn't pump just one side bc then that side might be stimulated to produce even more. It usually evens out some in time. However, my left breast still produces way more milk, thereby looking larger, than my right.
