I'm just curious. I think my doctor said she will consider an induction if you're ten days past your due date. Or maybe it was a week. I'm remembering from my last pregnancy so I'll have to ask her again next appointment. Is there a norm on this?
The normal office policy is to talk about induction after 41 weeks but, my Midwife knows that I will refuse an induction if there is nothing wrong with the baby.
I think by 41 weeks. My dr mentioned before she is not available after that so she would induce by then. However I'm sure she would let me go to 42 and I would get delivered by a different dr if that's what I want. Ill cross that bridge if I get there.
Last time I was scheduled to be induced the night of 41 weeks and 2 days. That was about as long as she was willing to go. Thankfully I went on my own right at 41 weeks.
OB said she's willing to discuss it at 41 weeks if I'm really uncomfortable and 42 weeks is her hard limit. I'll cross that bridge when or if I get there

I'm a VBACer with an awesomely hands off doctor and he will let me go to at least 41w, even with another big baby. If I go past due, we will have a growth ultrasound, a cervix check and a "talk." :]
42w with my midwife, though I think she'd budge by a day or two on the end in my favor. I'm comfortable with induction at that point but would do all that I could to keep the birth occurring at home before transferring care.
My doctor said that if everything looks good, they won't start pressuring me to get induced until 42 weeks. Even then, he made sure that I knew he can't force me to do anything.
My dr said 41 weeks for ftms. She said the risk of stillborn goes up after 41 weeks and would recommend induction if I reach 41 weeks.
This is the first I am hearing of this. I would do some research before you believe that comment
I've looked into it and we briefly discussed it but not in details as we haven't reached that point, and I hope we don't really have to discuss induction. But the risk goes up, not a lot, only minimally, but since the outcome could be still birth, my OB thinks it's better to talk induction, and I agree.
My Doc said she won't let me go past 41 weeks. Which is absolutely fine with me. Plus, my husband goes out of town for a business trip within 2 weeks of my due date. I want to make sure he's home!
They won't induce until 42 if there are no other medical indications, although my MWs will have you go in for an NST at 41, just to make sure things are all still OK.
Re: How late will your doc let you go?

With my first pregnancy and OB I was induced at 41wks. It resulted in a c/s so in hindsight I wish she would have let me go longer.
Now that I have a c/s on my permanent record my new OB won't let me go past 40wks.

I am assuming this is just for a RCS and not VBACing?
As you see above we have other cesarean moms who are VBACing with the capability of going past 40 weeks. So I am curious what her reasoning is.

He lat one of my sisters go to 42 but induced me at almost 41 for medical reasons.
I would never be ok with going past 42 weeks.
This. I won't allow induction unless there is fetal distress.
