Advent Crafter Update!!

Ok ladies, I am armed and ready!  Here's my update!

I got all my felt and stitch-witch today.  I ran into an issue with the numbers, though- I could not find pre-cut felt numbers anywhere.  So, I bought some number stencils, extra felt, and this stuff called "heat bond" which is like stitch witchery but has paper on one side- so you can essentially make your own iron-on numbers.  I'm planning to make all my number tonight. 

Now, since I'm making my numbers, my numbers will be bigger than the PBK ones.  I think I am going to put my numbers ON the pockets, instead of underneath like the PBK one, so that will determine the size of the pockets... which will then, in turn, decide how big the tree really needs to be (follow that?).

What I did was buy 17 cute pre-made felt Xmas embellishments (an ornament, candy cane, Santa, jingle bells, etc in different sizes- I foudn these at Joannes) and I am going to attach those to the numbers on the pockets wiht hot glue.  Not every pocket will have an embellishment and that's fine with me.   I got pretty random colors and I want it to be very colorfula nd random, as well as Christmas-y, you know?

I may also use the "Heat Bond" stuff to put Alex's name at the bottom of it.   I figured if and when we have #2 I'll make him or her their own.  (um, craft night 2010, maybe?!?!).

So I will work on all this and let you know!

Also- do we make 24 pockets or 25???

Oh and I got a wooden hangy star and am planning to glue the top of the tree to it, so it will have a nice little raffia-like rope to hang from. I got it at Joannes for $2.99!

I may have to make this for the kids.  I have the perfect spot for it.  Now I know where to find the supplies but where can I find an extra few hours this month to actually put it together?

Maybe it's already been mentioned, but I just wanted to suggest that the last number go at the top, whether 24 or 25, rather than the bottom like the pic.

You mentioned before that you found a template for the tree itself.  Is there a web link for that?  Where did you find it?
