So I think my H and I have settled on a name for DD2, Cassidy Lynn, but there is one nagging problem I keep thinking about. My entire family keeps telling me they don't like it, and it's a last name. Yes, I know it CAN be a last name but I have heard it as a first name many times. The fact that they don't LIKE the name does not matter to me. They didn't like DD1's name, Madison, but we named her that anyway because we liked it. But do you think Cassidy is too much of a last name and is weird as a first name? We do have a back up name just in case, so I'd like your opinions. Thanks!

I've never thought of Cassidy as a last name..I think its a fine name

I think it's fine, and it pairs really well in style with your DD's name.

Once it's attached to your LO, I think your fam will mellow out a bit.

I think Madison and Cassidy match in that they are both last names but clearly recognizable at this point as girl's names too.

This is one reason I didn't tell my family our DS's name ahead of time!

Madison and Cassidy are very similar in style, just ignore your family, or make something up thats way worse and tell them its between the two.

If you like it, go for it. I know someone with this as a last name, but also know someone else with this as a first name. It's your baby, name it what you want!

I think the two names are similar in style and if you didn't care what they thought of Madison I really wouldn't worry about it at all. I don't think of it as a last name either. It's must just not be their style which is fine. This name seems to be popping up around the boards more...

I have family with that last name. However, I don't see anything wrong with using it as a first name. Avery, Thomas, Wilson, James, Edward...all are examples of last names being used as first names.

Cassidy is my best friend's name and I have never thought of it as a last name. If you love it that's all that matters!

I love Cassidy, that's on my list of names. I only think of David Cassidy- but honestly, when I hear that, I think he has a first name as a last name instead of the other way around. And Cassidy and Madison match very nicely, so I would say go for it!

I have a co-worker that has the last name Cassidy, that being said, I like the name and think it fits well with your DD1. I always wished my full name was Cassidy, instead of the common nn for Cassidy/Cassandra (Cassie, but mine is with a K).
