That's my name! Well, my nickname at least (fn is Marianna). We say it just like Mary but I have to admit that all through life people have mispronounced and spelled it wrong. I've gotten mar-ee and Marie the most when using the shortened spelling.
I know of a little girl named Mari and this is how they pronounce it. I've never understood it because I'm sure that most people would want to say Mary.
Having grown up in a community with a large hispanic influence, I would say Mah-ree (with a slightly rolled r), and assume it's short for Maricela or Mariana
Re: How would you pronounce "Mari"?
Mar-ee.
Mar like in March.

Although, since its not spelled that way, I may think its pronounced Mar-ee.
Another vote for Mar-ee.

This is how I would pronounce it, but I think most of the population would be confused and pronounce it like Mary.
