Can prefolds be tie dyed??

Can you tie dye prefolds? Would it effect the diapers? And if anyone has tried this what brand of dye did you use? I just thought this might be cute for the summer months. TIA

I just saw that the GMD pamphlet says no, they do not recommend it and that the dye company doesn't recommend using their permanent dye on diapers because of the possibility of it being absorbed into the skin.

Someone on this board posted their tied dyed flats.

I don't think prefold would do as well because they are multiple layers thick.

I have heard of a number of people dying their prefolds, but not heard anyone saying their babies bums came out like Easter Eggs.

I thought you were supposed to avoid dyes - isn't that on the list of things that makes a detergent non-CD friendly?
