Does anyone know anything about teaching babies sign language? Im just curious ab it. I was thinking ab buying a book but thought id ask tge parenting ladies first.
We picked a few useful signs nurse, water, eat, all done, etc. and we started using then in simple sentences for DS1 when he was 89 months old. After a few months, he picked up on them. His were slight variations if he couldn't quite get the motion. For example, he used one finger on his cheek for water instead of three fingers in a W. we stuck with just a for a long time, then added some just for fun like animals. He could communicate much sooner with signs and was still an early talker. He has started to show some to DS2, though he did need a reminder on most of them. DS2 is much too young to learn them yet, but it's super cute to see DS1 show him.
Definitely get videos or apps over books. I had a hard time getting the motions from the illustrations in books, but it was easy to learn watching a video.
We liked the Signing Time DVD that pps mentioned, and we also had an Android app (My First Signs, I think?) that had even more on it.
We found it very helpful, as DS has a speech delay, but took to the signing well.
Re: Baby Sign Language
Awesome sauce thank u
my oldest sis has hearing problems and we used to watch a show with sign language. She also had a friend that was completely deaf.
I always wanted to learn ASL, and now im going to learn with dd.
