Thrush in a 6 month old?

DD has white patches on the inside of her lips and a few spots on her upper gums. We saw the pedi Monday and she had a few dots on her lips, but he said he thought it was just dry skin. It's grown since then and I think it is thrush. DD has no teeth. We just started solids (last week) via BLW. She has not been sick or on antibiotics.

If it isn't thrush, any ideas what else would cause white patches?

If it is thrush, do we have to go on nystatin? I know I can do probiotics for both of us and amp up my fruits and veggies. What else can we do?

 Thanks y'all!

Thrush has nothing to do with age.  Is LO in day care?  My LO got thrush the first time by sharing a toy with a boy who had thrush.  You can use gentian violet, vinegar, tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract to treat thrush.  But honestly, if LO has that many spots already, I would go with a prescription of either nystatin or diflucan and get rid of it quickly.  You probably need to be treated at the same time so you two don't pass it back and forth.

She is not in daycare, but my oldest is in preschool. Maybe she brought it home? No idea.

I called the pedi today and left a message, but never heard back. When using the remedies you listed, do you just apply any of those straight to the spots in her mouth? How many times daily?

My two week old had thrush due to antibiotics. His pediatrician said to put coconut oil on myself or any nipple we put in his mouth. If this didn't work, then she would prescribe an oral anti fungal. The coconut oil took care of the yeast in his mouth and in my nipples within 24 hours. Hope that helps!

    Thank you!
