Hadley is cute, if your ok with the nn Hattie because im sure at some point in her life someone will try it out on her. personally i wouldn't name my child that. Hayden, or any other -ayden name is NMS
That's what I figured. I think the only reason I'm drawn to them is because of Haydee in Count of Monte Cristo. I like Haydee but feel like it's out because it's too close to "Hades." Thanks all!
I guess I am undecided on these... I prefer Hayden to Hadley but I think that is only because I have heard of Hayden Panettiere. It reminds me a lot of the name Peyton which I have heard on both boys and girls.... not a huge fan of the unisex quality or how trendy it seems.
Hadley... I just can't get on board with it. I guess because it begins with "Had" but seems like a made up version of Hailey. Never met one, so it just feels strange.
I wouldn't "sideeye" either name and if you love it then it would be perfectly fine! They aren't like out there crazy names and I like both more than Harper or Harlow.
I like Hadley a lot, and I know a 3.5 year old Hadley. Hayden is okay too... but it's more cutesy and trendy to me and I can't picture it on a grown woman as much as I can Hadley.
I agree with your assessment that Hadee is too close to Hades.
Perhaps Hailey, Hallie, or Hannah?
I am guilty of liking the name Hero for a girl, like the character from Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing". After studying the play in college I thought it was so lovely on a woman. It has a nice ring to it and a good meaning obviously. I would never ever use it in a million years, but perhaps for a pet one day? lol
I don't like either of them. Hayden is one of the better -ayden names for a boy, but it just sounds so masculine to me and I don't get it for a girl. Hadley is a random last name, and it's simultaneously too masculine yet little-girly somehow (I guess because it's a surname but it also has the -ley ending which is so effing trendy and stuck to a bunch of girl names I hate).

I think of both as boys. I love Hadley and the only one I know of is a guy. I was bummed to find it classified as a girls name when expecting my son. I just can't see it for a girl name. Hayden is just too much of a boy name no matter if there is a girl celebrity with the name.

hadley, nms. hayden is a boys name.
I rarely reply here (but often lurk since I don't get to name any more babies as we are one and done) ... but I had to chime in on this one
My daughter is Hadley. We call her Hady sometimes. I love it (obv) for a girl.
Hayden is a boy's name though. I've never heard it for a girl but there are a few boys with that name at DD's daycare.
