For fun: describe your dream home

I'm so sick of my house today. Day dreaming out my dreamhome. Describe yours! Money and reality should be no obstacle!

Re: For fun: describe your dream home

  • a stone cottage in the French countryside
  • Loading the player...
  • Old style craftsman, with enough rooms for all of us, but modern bathrooms and closets.  A huge yard and patio.

Oh yeah, and it has to clean itself and do laundry and fold/put it away for me.

  • Either tudor cottage or tradition farm house style.

    Lilypie Fifth Birthday tickers
  • Lafayette, Rose Ln, 4br 3bath over 3,000 sq ft, master suit with his and hers walk in closet, jacuzie bath tub OR no pool but has hot tub, has upstairs loft for DH's study/library, has Jack and Jill bath room for kids, updated EVERYTHING, inlaw unit for my mom, big flat back yard.
  • My dream home:

    - Large sunny kitchen

    - 2 offices/studios. 1 for music, 1 for photography (so one for ben and one for me!)

    - Enough rooms for each of our children and a "bonus room" for playing

    - large library/sitting room with built in bookshelves on 3 walls, a fireplace on the 4th.

    - a nice size master bedroom suite (a sweet master  bedroom!) with a large bathroom and a tub big enough for the whole family.

    - in-law units for my mom and sister

    - a big big dining hall

    - a barn and land for animals and veggies

    - off the beaten path but still close enough to a major city so we can get our dose of culture when we need it.

This home is pretty close to being perfect for us. Aside from not having land for farming...it has two cottages! can anyone spare 1.4 mill????

  • Refurbished/modernized Craftsmen style house with the kitchen as the focal point of the house, and a man room just for John.. and more than one bathroom!

    yes!!! Hahaha.

  • Ha!  This is a great "poll"!

For me, it would have to be a single story - 5000+ sq ft overlooking the ocean in Maui.  I want it to have at least 3 large bedrooms (each with their own bathroom) for children/guests, the master would be huge with a small sitting area.  The bathroom would be large with the slate tile floors, double vanity and his and hers walk in closets with a fabulous closet system.  I would also like to have a designated office.  It must have a very large kitchen with all stainless appliances, solid granite countertops in a dark grey/light black color with cherry cabinets.  I want the house to have solid wide plank wood floors and the bedrooms to be carpeted.  At least a 3 car garage with indoor laundry.  And it must have some sort of a yard, but because we'd be walking distance to the ocean, I wouldn't need a pool.

  • Ours is maybe a little weird.

4 bedrooms (one for us, one for the Nerdling, and one for an office/hideout/man cave/reading room for each of us).  2.5 baths.  Master bath with a big tub and a separate shower, dual vanities, and the toilet in a separate little room with a door.

    Huge closets.

Pantry (for some reason it bugs me to put food in kitchen cabinets)

    Modern style.

Guest cottage.  Which would not be used for guests, but as a workshop and music area for DH where he could set up his drum kit and other instruments.  Plus drill press, electronics workstation, etc.

HUGE lot in the redwoods with a pool, paths through the woods and some distance away from neighbors.  This is the weird part:  a decent sized flat meadow where we can build things and do experiments.  Maybe blow (small) things up, shoot model rockets, or have a bonfire.  ;-)

  • An old farm house with updated electricity and plumbing and windows.

It would have a "great room" - kitchen with large room with firepace.

It would have radiant heat and each room would have its own thermostat.

The master bedroom would be large enough to have a king sized bed and a comfy overstuffed couch. It would also have a walk in closet and fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.

In addition to the master br, there would be 4 more bedrooms and 2 full baths and 1 half bath.

There would be a man room and a project room/office for me.

Formal dining and living room too. Also a room for a home "gym".

    And a pool!

  • Take "Heasts Castle" and scale it down a bit, that should cover it :D
    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • I am actually living in mine!
  • Courtyard, huge backyard with separate garden and play area for the kids complete with a hockey rink (roller since I'm not willing to live where it snows), big kitchen with walk-in pantry, and upstairs a private reading room/library with built in bookcases and ladder ;)

    That's all.

Edited to add: stair access to the second level from the kitchen. I don't know what it is about that feature but I love it! And the kitchen has to face the backyard (large, wide windows) so I can see the kids.

  • It would have a full time housecleaner to trail behind me and clean up after me.
