Cloth Diapering

newbie question about gDiaper inserts

Has anybody used a different insert than the ones that come with gdiapers? If so, what kind would you recommend? I'm new to cding and would like to try different inserts to see if absorbancy and moisture wicking is different with different inserts. We are using size medium gdiapers. TIA for your help!

Re: newbie question about gDiaper inserts

  • I'll start off by saying that I used g-diapers at first until I discovered other diapers. My friend used g-diapers and loved them, so that's what I tried first. I do not think they absorb as well as other diapers plus they didn't fit my baby very well- we had leaks unless we changed him every hour.

Before I discovered other diapers I did experiment with Thirsties hemp doublers. I think they worked a lot better than the g-diapers inserts. However, I would use the doubler underneath the g-diaper insert.

  • There is a store in our area called Nappy Shoppe that makes their own inserts for gdiapers. They call them gflappers. I have used them as inserts in my BG's but not in a gdiaper. I really like them. They do take orders and ship but they are terrible at updating their website so it often says out of stock even though they have plenty. I just call to make sure they have what I want in stock and they almost always do.
  • In my smalls I used inserts by cottonwoodbabies and liked them a lot. They have an extra layer of hemp so they hold more. Kawaii bamboo inserts are about the same size as medium g inserts, so they make nice doublers layered behind the gcloth. I've actually been pretty happy with the absorbancy of the medium inserts, but will sometimes use a pad folded flat.
