NACCRRA - TFI

I have a question on the total family income portion of the application process. On the website it says that BAH is not a factor in TFI, but when I called to get general information about the program and how it works I was told otherwise. In your experience, was BAH factored into TFI?

  • I haven't done the app yet because you can't actually apply until baby is born, but; I have seen very few things where BAH is included as income so I wouldn't count it.

I haven't applied either, but I have two centers I am trying to narrow down. You can call their phone center and if you give them your TFI and what the daycare's weekly rate is, they can tell you how much assistance they will provide.

  • We just applied and I'm pretty sure that DHs BAH was included as part of our income.

I initially called to get an estimate over the phone and when I inquired the rep I spoke to never told me to not include his BAH. When we actually sent in all of our paperwork (LES) the amount we end up paying was exactly the same as the quote. This leads me to believe that BAH is included.

  • This is what I found on the Army page of the naccrra site.

Total Family Income (TFI) does NOT include:

    a. Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) annotated on LES (Use the BAH RC/T charts unless it is lower on LES, then use LES)

    b. Temporary Pays related to Deployment (for example Family Separation, Hardship Duty and Imminent Danger/Combat Zone Pay)

    c. One time Pays (for example, bonuses or Assignment Incentive Pay)

    d. Variable Housing Allowance

    e. Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)

I'm just stressing out a bit because of planning for this baby. I'll send an email to one of the representatives today and see what they have to say.

  • I know for applying for camp at the local Y we had to include BAH and it was a NACRAA form. And my income even though it is my stepdaughter. I didn't realize NACRAA would help with daycare as well. Good to know so thank you!

BLT, now that LO has arrived have you applied? What has been your experience bc even on base they are considering both DH and my BAH as part of TFI.
