Dentist?

I was reading that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommends that you take a baby for their first dental check up by 1 year old. DS currently has 4 teeth and it is hard enough to just try to brush his teeth let alone taking him to the dentist. Does anyone plan on taking their LO in the coming months? Thoughts?

Nope. Honestly I asked at my dentist appointment a couple of weeks ago when I should bring her in and they said they really dont encourage it before 2. It's too hard to actually do anything before then and even at 2 a lot of kids won't let them do much. But they basically said it wasa waste of time and money to do it anytime soon. They told me to just brush her teeth, keep away from sugary drinks and keep an eye on them [ie make sure they don't change color or anything].

I'm glad you mentioned this because I had been thinking about taking mine by age 1 but totally forgot I didn't add them to our dental insurance.  Duh.

This is us too.  I called, since we were doing O/E for DH's work, and they said probably 18 mos - 24 mos.  Since DS doesn't have any teeth yet (!), they recommended waiting until closer to 24 mos.

Same here.  LO only has 1 tooth so a visit at 1 year would be useless.
