Cloth Diapering

Did I mess up?

I bought a couple ikea flats yesterday. This morning, without thinking, I threw them in the wash with my synthetic pockets and inserts. They went through the first rinse and hot wash/cold rinse cycle. I'm stripping my diapers anyway today. Do I go ahead and run everything through the 5 million rinse cycles to strip or do I need to add dish soap now? I am stripping due to detergent build up so I don't want to add unnecessary soap but I don't want to cause more issues since I washed Unprepped cotton with MF.

I agree.  I'd just bite the bullet and add dawn.  Yes, it's a pain to get it all out, but I think you'd rather have the pain once today then have to go back and strip again because the oils cause repelling.

If you're stripping anyway, I would add a bit of dawn. I find that dawn helps get out detergent buildup. If I were in your shoes, that's what I would do.

Does it have to be Dawn or can the generic work? It's the generic of the blue dawn. How much for an old school top loader?

  • Ok I will try that. Can I leave the flats in through this process and consider them fully prepped at the end of it?

  • Thanks for your help ladies!! Now hopefully we can knock out our stink and repelling issues.
