Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Question from a July mom...

I received a Samsung SmartCam wifi baby monitor as a gift. After reading a lot of bad reviews on amazon and Target.com, I have decided to take it back. With DD, I had a basic baby monitor that worked great.  Now that she is 4, I can see us being in the backyard or playing downstairs while baby is sleeping so I need a monitor that is reliable and I can always hear what is going on.

What baby monitor do you use? Any recommendations would be appreciated :) Thanks!

  • We have a/the Vtech one after having to return another brand due to static or electronic interference.  Works really well and is crystal clear!  Ours is audio only though, no video.

  • I have a Motorola. I read a lot of reviews and all of the Motorola video monitors have great reviews. I went back and forth a lot about which size to get, there is a smaller one that runs about 130 and a bigger one that is about 180. I finally decided to get the smaller one and it is totally big enough. It has great night vision and you can zoom and move the camera with the monitor. It's cordless as long as you keep it charged it doesn't have a crazy long battery life though. I love mine and would buy it again!

  • We have the Angelcare video monitor. We like it a lot, though it is hard to see the picture while out in the sun. It's not a big deal though because the sound still works if we are in our yard on on the deck.
  • I second the motorola video camera. We have one monitor and 2 cameras, one for each kids room. We have had it for DD for about 8 months and love it, although battery life of monitor unplugged only lasts an hour or so now.

  • We have this monitor and it works great so far, although we've only been using it for a month:

My MIL got it for us and also purchased the extended warranty. I have also heard a lot of positive things about Motorola monitors. The ones at our BRU store were too expensive for us, but they seem to have some less expensive models online.

  • We use the Summer video monitor and love it. The only problem with it is the charge doesn't last all night, so we keep the charger close by.
