I know they are bad, but are they good enough to use as a second insert? Like with a MF insert? Would it e too bulky? We got two packs way pack at our shower that I have never ever used. Never needed them for spit up rags.

I wouldnt. You can get hemp babies and they're super thin for about. 3each. Super absorbant.

If they are the DSQ ones they actually are pretty absorbant. If they are birdseye they are not.

Ok I just googled. Diaper service quality. So. I no longer have the packaging. Is there a way to know the difference

I second MK.  It can't hurt to try them.  The worst that will happen is you'll have a leak.  We have 12 of the cheapies to use as burp cloths.  I'd use them in a pinch as a second insert.  Definitely not overnight though.
