How lond post-op did your "belly" hurt?

I don't remember this with my twins.  Obviously my incision and the muscles around it hurt, but my entire belly area is very tender.  How long did this last for you?  I just posted on the BFing board that I'm in pain all over (my wrists, fingers, boobs, belly, incision, ankles).  I don't expect to feel great, but I'm ready for some of the pain to go away or at least be minimal.

  • Maybe a few months. My incision, 2 years later, is still numb and I'm guessing that it's permanent.

  • My 2nd c/s was Monday. It's not so much the incision, but the actual belly area.

Mine was very tender and painful for about 10 days probably. I had quite a bit of off-and-on pain for 4 weeks. My incision site is still sort of numb when I press on it.

I'd ask your dr about the pain all over your body; that doesn't seem right to me.

I was sore for about two weeks but my skin felt irritated above my incision for about a month. Now it's just numb, no soreness or irritation.

  • Are you keeping up with your pain medicine? You should even if you're breastfeeding, it will help you be more mobile and recover faster. I stopped taking percocet a week pp and only had a little pain for a couple days after that

  • My RCS was 11 days ago and I'm still tender and irritated around my incision. I take my extra strength ibiprophen when I feel the pain coming on. Plus for my breasts from bread feeding.

I've definitely been keeping up with the meds (I actually have alarms set on my phone).  My OB gave me a 1/2 dose of percocet so I could take it 2x as often so it would be a more consistent amount.  Tomorrow will be 1 week post-op and I think I'm going to try going without the percocet every other day until the pain is bearable (tried on Friday and was in agony, I feel great today and felt great yesterday so I'm a little nervous to stop).

  • My DD was born October 24, 2012 and I am still feeling pain and a numb feeling throughout my entire belly.  The pain is the worst about the time I start my period.  I asked the doctor at my last annual exam last month, and he told me it will take a long time for the nerve endings to repair themself and it will go on for a while.  He said in some cases up to a year.

While it's not constant, my belly still hurt sometimes. If my baby kicks me there, I feel the pain & somethings I will get pangs of pain for seemingly no reason. I know it took well over a year with my first to get feeling back in certain spots on my belly.

  • Not very long from what I remember, maybe about two weeks? I was taking Motrin so that helped a bit. My incision was numb for about 3 months.
