lowering the crib & breathable bumpers

lowering the crib & breathable bumpers

For those of you with cribs that have a lower setting, have you lowered it yet?  One of my boys is not far from pulling up on things, which I'm guessing would be the right time to do it.

Also, does anyone use breathable bumpers?  I have them, but haven't used them. A friend of mine said to take them back, that they are a waste of money.  She said that her daughter will hook her foot above the bumper and pull it down, making it ineffective.  I can still return mine, should I? TIA

Re: lowering the crib & breathable bumpers

  • If you can take yours back, do it. We bought a breathable bumper and once DS2 was able to move around in his crib, he has found ways to take them off by himself. I wouldn't really suggest them to anyone.

  • Don't know about the bumpers, we don't have any.

We just lowered our crib down to the middle setting yesterday actually.  Rebekah is starting to pull up on things, so I figured it'd be a good idea.

  • O doesn't pull up on things yet so the crib isn't lowered yet. I did just out breathable bumpers in it though. She kept getting her legs stuck in the slats and so far they're doing their job.

  • I wish i had waited to lower the crib, but she was making me nervous. We took it to the lowest setting because it was such a PIA, I didnt want to adjust it again.... but it is a long stretch of the arms to lay her down softly when she is already out.

No bumper, but a sleep sack keeps her from moving too much. So no real need for it.
  • We have already lowered it once and we do have the breathable bumpers. He tends to want to rub and play with things so he likes them, plus he always ends up with his head all the way against the slats.

  • Z has no interest in pulling herself up yet, so we won't lower it until that starts happening.
We do use a bumper but I have it threaded through the rails because she was getting her limbs stuck.
