It's been 8 weeks since I had my baby and I am at a loss for what to wear! I typically shop at The Loft, Banana Republic, Etc, and am having a hard time finding similar style clothes that are breastfeeding-friendly. Any suggestions?
I haven't been able to find anything either, and I actually don't want to buy true "nursing" tops that will only be good while I'm nursing. Recently I've been just been buying tops that are a bit longer, can be left untucked, and are stretchy enough to be able to hike up to nurse. Either that or ones that unbutton in the front. So far they're working for me.
Are you looking for shirts to nurse in or to wear to work to pump in?
If you're looking for belly coverage, I used the belly band for a long time. I also wore a nursing tank under regular shirts or sweaters for belly coverage.
Looking for shirts to nurse in. I am hoping to find some that really work well with nursing (rather than wearing a tank underneath) so that I don't have to wear more than one layer. I'm hot-natured + hormones + GA heat = a sweaty me
I wear tank tops with the weird built in bra over my nursing bra, and I just pull it down to feed. I actually prefer wearing tank tops under t-shirts or blouses, so when I lift my shirt to feed, my weird not toned stomach is hanging out. Four months in and it hasn't really bothered me to use this method. I am guessing though with really warm weather I'll have to figure something else out.
Motherwear and milk nursing wear both have nursing shirts that don't really look like nursing shirts and prevent you from wearing extra layers. I'm in TX so I understand completely. Also they don't look like maternity shirts like some do.
I didn't know about the AE tanks - I've been using the Old Navy Tankinis and LOVE them - stretchy enough to pull down - and I second the I need the 2nd layer to absorb the sweat!
Just a note.. I invested in some nursing shirts before I returned to work - and then quickly figured out - most of them suck for pumping So they are still good on the weekends but they are a hassle for work.
I'm a typical Banana Republic shopper and I still bought clothes there for nursing. Some of the v-necks, button downs, wrap tops, and mock wraps are great for nursing.
