twat waffle tuesday

Does anyone have a nomination?

I nominate my body for not being able to go back to sleep after dd woke up to eat. Its 3:30am here.

Re: twat waffle tuesday

  • The client who scheduled three over lunch phone conferences this week so "we don't have to miss any work". I like my lunch break. Working lunches are stupid.

  • I also nominate myself for buying eggo waffles, but no butter.

I nominate you for being on vacation in Hawaii and bumping at 3:30 am!!!!!J/k... we're flying to the West Coast in a few weeks and I totally anticipate being up for the day before 4:00 am.nbsp; Should be all kinds of awesome.Hmm... I nominate the mother of one of the kids in DS' class.nbsp; They sent home his sippys yesterday because they are using open cups now so I was holding it as I was walking out the door.nbsp; The other mother asked why I was bringing it home and I told her.nbsp; She commented that she would just throw that sippy out because "it was probably made in China and you can't trust anything made in China".nbsp; Good lord lady your life must be full of fret.nbsp; Am I now supposed to manufacture my own plastic in my basement I don't have a basement btw so that I'm sure it's organic and free trade and perfect for my preshus....Ugh....

I got a set of plastic bowls off freecycle once. The person would only give them away to someone who "recognized the risks of exposing children to the toxins in plastics, even bpa free plastics, and would promise not to use the dishes for kid". DS loves those bowls.

  • I nominate the tooth erupting through DS2's gums right now causing fever and the shiits. Thank you, I needed this today. ::sarcasm font::

Oh and my mother for calling me to tell me that her friend went to our favorite outdoor zoo and came home covered in ticks. Now Ive got the heebie jeebies and our zoo is ruined.

Oh, so you've met my BIL.  Mom hides her plastic wrap and tupperware when he comes to visit because she can't stand his anti-plastic lectures.

This made me think about Fried Green Tomatoes when Kathy Bates wraps herself in plastic wrap.  What would your BIL think of THAT?

They would HATE the planter in front of my house. It is nothing but weeds right now. DD likes blowing the "flowers' though.

Ds does too, when we can find them. The lawns here are so over treated. They look pretty, but the run off damage to the ponds and streams I hike along is horrible.

One thing I will never understand - How the hell do they survive the lawnmower?!  It cracks me up to see a newly mowed long with 6" tall dandelions sticking up.

I figured you guys would be proud since you've worked so hard for the title. Congratulations!

SAHM is slowly becoming my favorite place to lurk.

I really mostly go there to know what I get judged for.

Although sometimes it's pretty clear. Like when ds drops his pants to pee "next to his brother", while I'm occupied picking up dog poop. Kid can take his pants off faster than any frat boy I've ever met. The dog is his brother, btw. Any attempt to convince him he isn't is met with sobbing.

I also nominate my ex's new live-in gf for spanking DD. I'm really not ok with her discipling DD at all, esp not spanking her!

DANDELIONS?! The travesty. I'm sure that if you can't afford a professional landscaping service to come and take care of your yard that you obviously shouldn't be allowed to own a home.

I think I was just accused of trying to start a working mom vs Sahm mom debate. But I'm not sure.

Well we've always just had an informal agreement for custody, so I'm working on getting a formal custody order now. It's just so frustrating!

No dice, dude. I would be taking serious action.

I'm beyond upset about it! I know my ex spanks her, which I'm not happy about either. And now that he's allowing his new gf to discipline her too, I'm really not ok with it.

omfg. Seriously, please consult a family law attorney or something - I don't know much about that stuff. But something sounds waaaay off here.

I just hired an attorney last week finally. I was trying to go along with everything he was wanting just to get it over with & make it easy, but when he told me he's always going to know what I'm doing & it's never going to stop...I decided I needed an attorney. The fact that he's a police officer & has access to a lot of information does worry me.

So yes, I've finally started the process of protecting DD & I.

I spend much more time online at work than DW does at home. The only real break she gets is naptime. Maybe that will change as DS gets a bit older. Right now if she's on the computer he's all up in her bizzness.

So, obviously Team Parenting and Team Rondack but...uh...

My next door neighbor has a yard that is entirely dandelions and it effing pisses me the hell off. It's not just a few weeds. It's their ENTIRE yard. We work hard on our lawn and have to pay a fortune to keep it from being overtaken simply because they won't put forth even an ounce of effort in theirs.

    It's truly annoying.

I might kindofsortofhavetosay I get where the woman who yelled at that OPs husband was coming from. I wouldn't yell. I do think dark and evil thoughts at my neighbors on a regular basis though.

Team BurnTheDandelionsToTheGround but I laughed hard at how serious those ladies got about yard size.

I have no problem with yard maintenance! Or getting rid of dandelions. I just wish people used fewer fertilizers and sprays and crap.

I grew up in a much more rural area where people's lawns were nice but not as treated. I never knew how bad run off could get.

Even the mini "lawns" in between the aisles at Walmart are sprayed and treated weekly here. Walmart looks like a golf course.

The run off is terrible. It makes me sad.

So keep your lawn pretty! But if you use lots of chemicals to make it look golf course like... I maye judge a bit.

In reality though, I think most people hear something is harmless for kids and pets and don't know that it's not REALLY harmless.

On a side note.. what is the protocol for just mowing your neighbor's lawn?  We live in a townhome community and the common areas are not our responsibility but I can see possibly doing a midnight mowing of some ridiculously terrible looking yard...

Do you have a HOA?  Is there a rule about maintaining the yard?

I am lucky in that our HOA fees cover all grass cutting in the neighborhood.  But grass is very hard to grow so everyone mulches or plants non-grass ground cover.

I wouldn't mow it because they will just keep letting it go so someone else will take care of it.

Yeah we have an HOA and they handle all the landscaping.  It's weirdly meticulous and stepford at times, but it's clean.

I was just thinking if I lived in a single family home with no HOA and my neighbor was letting that ish grow knee-high...

Most cities have an ordinance.  I would turn them into the city.  Unkempt lawns can host all sorts of varmint.

I know people hate HOAs but I love the meticulous stepfordness of it.  It kept my property values high during the bubble when neighboring areas plummeted.

I have no HOA hate, much for the reason you described.  I have actually shocked myself with how much of a grumpy old person I am with people not following HOA bylaws for outdoor things.

I'm currently fighting the good fight against satellite dishes with exterior wiring down the side of the house and people that store their garbage cans outside at all times.

Wait. Where do you store your trash cans?

    image image
  • imagekiraliz2:

Wait. Where do you store your trash cans?

Ours are in our garage. In our HOA, they aren't supposed to be stored visible from the street. A lot of people put them on the side of their houses, and have half wall facades that hide them.

Oh okay. I heard "not outside" and thought people brought them in the house.

  • I'm late posting, but this is a good forum to vent...

I was really excited to tell my parents that we are expecting #3. Let me preface this by saying that DH and I have good, solid marriage,  we are financially secure, and our kids are happy and well taken care of.  This baby was planned and we are very happy about it.

We told my mom on Mother's Day, Her response?  "Oh no."  And then she changed the subject to something completely random.

I was so hurt and had to leave the room to cry.

She later apologized and said she was just surprised, but I personally think that's BS.  A surprised person doesn't say "oh no",  they say nothing, "oh my gosh" or something similar.  Not, "Oh no" and then change the subject.

Anyway, I'm excited and she's just insensitive.  Like always.

I figure if I really can't stand it or he gets delayed I'll hire one of the teens to do it but otherwise it's going to wait until he gets home. Fortunately our neighbors only use the amateur lawn services of the kids that live nearby.

What's the going rate for a teen mowing the lawn anyway? It's not very big, maybe like 1/2 acre?

    Yes....? The grass...grows?

Every other week here is sufficient. Maybe it rains there more. I have never in the history of me ever had to mow weekly.

Right, well we don't live in even remotely the same part of the country so it stands to reason the lawn requirements might differ.

Here, once a week is the minimum to keep the lawn from being overgrown.

Same here. If we waited every other week here, our grass would be a foot tall.
