MoM: Breastfeeding possible?

DH and I just found out today we are expecting twins. I nursed DD for 7 months and I was really hoping to nurse baby #2 as long as possible.

After leaving the u/s, one of the first things I said to DH was "well there goes my nursing plan."

I still plan to do all I can to breastfeed, but I'd love to hear how it worked for you.

My mom successfully nursed twins in the 80's. It's definitely possible since nursing is supply and demand. Not the same thing as twins but I tandem nursed two kids for the first 7 months if DD's life with no supply issues.

A friend of my SIL's exclusively pumps for her twins...they are 16 months and still going strong. I swear the woman has wonderboobs, but it is possible! She tandem nursed for three months, and as soon as she knew her supply was sufficient for the twins she started pumping as a personal preference.

Definately possible! I have nursed my twins and plan on EBFing them as soon as I get through these vasospasms and mastitis!

I don't have personal experience but we are built for twins  I have a friend who EBF (at the breast) for over two years with her twins - so definitely doable!  Having nursed before will certainly help.

It's doable. However I am exclusively pumping with a few actual nursing sessions here amd there though because of their prematurity and the amount of time it takes for 2 plus I am giving some to my DS1. I do supplement one formula bottle each right now . I had to do this with my first son also since he was premature also. Any breast milk is great. It isn't all or nothing. I was a little disappointed with DS1 that the doctors wanted us to supplement with premie formula since I had great supply p but it is all about your babies in the end.

Thank you so much ladies. I know I'm getting ahead of myself. But I was really hoping to nurse for a year the second time around and never really thought that I'd need to worry about making double the amount of milk.

I'm planning to do all that I can.
