Hi Ladies! I need your help please!
I have been CD LO since we came home. She has super sensitive skin and be have had issues with diaper rash, heat rash, lots of baby acne etc. We just can back from a week long vacation in which I used Seventh generation disposables...her bottom was beautiful, the best it has been. So last night I put her back in cloth, and by noon today her bottom is getting chapped and red. I washed my stash before I left, cold prewash, hot/cold wash with extra rinse. I use Allen's Soap for diapers and clothes. Diapers I have used last night and today are thirsties, fuzzi bunz, and BG's 4.0. We change at every feeding and even in between so she is not in a wet diaper for long.
The rash is red, chapped looking on her bottom, chubby inguinal folds but no tell tale signs of yeast (the dots). Could this be a yeast we are battling? I am so discouraged...this just makes me want to use disposables to keep her bottom happy.
What are your thoughts?? tips suggestions? (Also, LO and I have not had any antibiotics.)
Thank you ladies!!!
Re: HELP!! Is this yeast? Sooo frustrated...
Not yeast - yeast is a beefy bright red central rash with little satellite dots just as you mentioned. Yeast would not be in your LO's urine; it is a skin condition.
Honestly this kind of sounds like a sensitivity or irritation of some sort. Either the suedecloth of the diapers (BG, not FB, though) or wetness.
I agree. It doesn't sound like yeast. I'd suggest running your clean CDs through a few hot rinses without detergent to get out any lingering detergent. It might be detergent buildup, or it might be detergent sensitivity. Try not using the BGs and see if the rash goes away; if it does it could be a suedecloth sensitivity.
I'm thinking the same thing. Babies can develop a rash from the detergent used to wash their diapers and be fine with clothes washed in the same detergent.

This is exactly what happened to us when we tried Tide. It was really red, and burned, almost raw looking.

We use Nellie's. DD had a similar reaction to Tide.
