So I'm not due until September. I've registered for some diapers (pockets) but I'm definitely not counting on anyone buying me any CDs. So DH and I are trying to figure out what to buy. We've bought about 9 pockets so far (mainly for daycare purposes) but I'm not sure exactly what and how many more to get. We are willing to try anything, DH is fully on board, which I am so grateful for, but we are so knew to this and really only know 1 other person IRL who CDs, and she's a SAHM, so I'm not sure if her experience is the same as ours will be.
So if anyone can tell me what brands they like, how they like one type over another, what they do for travel, overnight, just hanging around the house, etc. That would be great!
We have a CD store about 20 mins away, and they have classes which we are going to try to take. They also sell cosigned diapers at a good price, and offer a discount if we take a class.
Ive done some research, so I know the differences, but I just like to hear other people's opinions. Thanks!
Re: FTM, I need some help
Take the cloth diaper class. They'll go over a ton of styles and you can play with them and ask questions.
Depending on how often you want to wash, you should have 20 to 24 changes.
I like my BG 4.0 diapers for daycare and prefolds and covers for weekends. Overnight, I use a prefolds, hemp doubler and flip cover.
Thank you. The daycare will allow cloth, they have to be pockets, and we have to provide a wet bag and pail that will seal.
Thanks again!

We use BG Freetimes for DC. And they are MH's go to choice bc they are easy.
I have started using Best Bottoms for overnight, weekends, and travel. They are a cover with snap in inserts, and you reuse the cover. They are great for travel bc AIO's take up a ton of space. For out and about, and for travel, all you need is a few covers, plus your inserts which lay flat in the suitcase or diaper bag. I also love them for night bc I can do a MF doubler, plus a cotton/hemp insert and it's super trim but holds a ton of wetness and lasts 12 hours overnight. This weekend my cotton/hemps were all mysteriously missing so I just laid a trifolded bamboo over the regular MF insert and they worked great too. I love the customizability, and yes I just made up that word.

For the newborn stage we had 24 GMD infant prefolds and a bummis super brite cover, a rumparooz lil joey cover, and 2 thirsties covers. If I had another LO right now, I would skip the thirsties because the aplix is awful, and would get more of the super brites and lil joeys.
We switched to size small prefolds around 8 or 9 weeks old, and are still using them at home at 5.5 months. My current favorite covers are blueberry coveralls, bummis super brites (next size up... I wish they were OS!), and rumparooz OS.
For daycare, we use BG 4.0 pockets Blueberry pockets, and Tots Bots Easy Fit (I'm not sure if these count as pockets or AIOs since the insert is technically attached). Both work fine. Daycare is so-so about getting them on correctly, and it doesn't seem to matter if they're aplix or snaps. They're just in a hurry all the time and don't take the extra 10 seconds to make sure everything is tucked in.
Does daycare need you to provide a sealed pail, or would a bag that closes work? I think a lot of people just send wet bags that zip up. We have 3 medium planet wise bags and they work perfectly for a 8-9 hour daycare day.
