  • I gave both my kids peanut butter at 12 months. I did not ask the dr before giving it to them. They both did fine.

  • I thought pb was only a concern if there is a history of allergies to nuts in the family. There are no food allergies in our family history, so I offered pb around 16 months of age.
  • I gave it to her at 18 months.  I didn't ask the doctor, because she had already said I could give DD anything.  Did you see all the new studies that came out and said that delaying peanuts may actually INCREASE the chance of allergy?  Yes, all the researchers changed their minds.... again!
  • DH gave her peanut butter right around her 1st birthday.  He said he would rather we do it and see what happened then have her steal someone's sandwich at the sitter.  She was also very tiny, and the dr said it was a great way to put some weight on her. I also ate peanut butter literally every day of my pregnancy, so I am sure she had a tolerance.

I saw an article last week thats basically said tests have shown the reason there are so many peanut allergies in the US is because we wait to long to give it.  Other countries don't have that issue.

  • We haven't givem it yet (we are waiting until 2), but my pedi said that when we do it to give it at breakfast so he is up for a while after and we can watch for a reaction. I am sure it is fine, though.

  • We gave it to DS around 16 months I think.  My ped said that as long as there's not a family history of allergies that there really isn't too much of a concern.  He said just to watch him afterwards and that if he was to have a reaction that it would be almost immediate.

  • My DD first had it at 15 months.  I let them try it at daycare since they are right by the EMT/Fire station and so were probably better equipped for an emergency than I would be.

She did fine. We have no family history of allergies.

  • we gave it to all three right around a year.

Mitch reacted...bad...not horrible, but hives all over.  Now no one eats it in my house.  We ended up in the ER.

The girls had no issues at a year with it.

Thing is, my MIL and others around have PB crackers, nutter butters, peanut M&M's etc, etc.  So, it was a matter of time before MIL gave it to him anyways, and I'm glad it happened when we were around to make sure it was ok.

  • 11 or 12 months. I did not discuss it with his doctor beforehand.

    He loves PB&Js.

  • She had it by the time she was one.  I'd go ahead and give her some - especially if you have no family history of nut allergies.

  • DD has other food allergies (not pb), so our ped told us to wait until she was 3 to indroduce it.  She just had it this week for the first time and did fine.  It's her new favorite food.

  • Both had peanut butter before a year. No issues. No reason to wait per the feeding pamphlet my Dr gave me unless there's history of alleries. Never occurred to me to buy benadryl.
