Twitter and Instagram. 

Do I need an iPhone for Instagram? 

I have a Twitter account, and I follow some peeps (and some peeps are following me, what!?) but I guess I'm looking for an interface similar to Facebook. Is that all it is (under Tweets?). I don't "get" it.

I also don't understand the "#" concept. I think I get the "@" (you refer to someone?)

Feel free to tell me to check Wikipedia and the Twitter Help page. Been there, still confused.

I don't use twitter, I don't get the concept either. It never appealed to me but I am a FB whore. I use instagram with my Samsung Galaxy! I couldn't use it with my blackberry but I also never tried.

My husband is from the Caribbean.  Appleton is a staple at our house :-)

Hash tags are used to group posts together by topic. So if you click on one, all the tweets tagged the same will pull up. They are also used for sarcastic afterthoughts and abused just as often.

Right!? Like people on Facebook saying weird shiit like

"Here are all three cousins. #familylove #cutestboysever #eastersunday"

when they don't even have Twitter. Perhaps I should give it up.

I use Instagram on my Galaxy and my Tab 2. You have to download the Instagram app from the Play store, not just go to Instagram.com on your browser. 

When you do @name it tags that person the same way it does on FB. When you do hashtags like "just got a new #puppy" then when people search "puppy" your picture will show up in the search. IDK about Twitter, I don't have one. LOL did that help at all?

I thought I had to have Twitter to use Instagram. Thank you for your insight and brilliance. I'm going to see if I have it on my droid.

I love twitter as a teacher. I tweet reminders for hw assignments, let kids do extra credit by tweeting from an event, etc. I follow a bunch of school staff and get updates on events that way. But yea, I don't really get it for personal use either. People can basically post Facebook status type tweets. I find Facebook easier to follow for that stuff.

Oh and fyi, you're supposed to be able to click on a # and see all the things written with it, but I gave the kids a hw assignment to tweet with a certain # and then only 1/2 of them showed up. The others showed me their tweets the next day. It wasn't their privacy settings, they didn't spell it wrong, I have no idea why it didn't work, so I don't trust it.
