Cloth Diapering

Tide powder and HE machine

Okay, I posted the other day about feeling overwhelmed and you ladies talked me off the ledge. From reading this board and other cloth diapering sites, it seems like Tide is an okay detergent to use. Since we already use Tide, I'd like to just buy one type of detergent for all our laundry. Some questions:

We have an HE machine, is Tide HE okay?

Do I need to use powder?

What is the difference between Tide Original and Tide Free and Gentle? Is one better than the other? Is it just scent? Is it the enzymes thing? Or do they both have enzymes?

Thanks again for all your wisdom!

I have an HE and I use Tide Ultra powder in original scent. My understanding is that you want powder not liquid. If you can find the Free in powder, it's fine too. Some babies do react to the scent though in the original. Mine doesn't.

  • Yes, you want an HE powder. I use Tide Ultra HE powder in my front loader.
