The Great Gatsby

Was awesome!! DH and I both had the day off for an A/S and we went to a matinee of Gatsby after the apt. It's one of my favorite books so I was skeptical. However, it was so good. They left out one major part but it was a non issue in the grand scheme of things. I really enjoyed the camera work. Baz Luhrmann is damn good at his job. The characters were well developed. Daisy always annoyed me but Carey Mulligan did a good job, she wasn't as pathetic as she was in the book and Leo DiCaprio rocked it (I generally don't love him). The soundtrack was great! I didn't expect it to work as well as it did. Worth seeing IMO. Random fact, Jay-Z was an executive producer for the film, which I didn't know and blew my mind.

I loved the book as well. Glad to hear this.

I really was pleasantly surprised. It dragged a smidge for about a half hour but picked up again at the end. I am a big fan of Luhrmann's style and I didn't expect a lot of substance. With it being such a well read book, it's one of the rare times I can overlook substance. It was visually stunning though to say the least.

Oh, fun! I want to see. I love Baz Luhrman's 1996 Romeo and Juliet version...also with Leonardo.

I saw that sucker in the theater twice lol.
