Flats

Okay so I really want to give flats a try. Especially for summer having something lighter on his booty and trimmer. I really did not like the kawaii prefolds and I think that's why they don't get a lot of use. I do use them in pockets now instead of MF. I'm tempted to just buy a flat king sheet in 100 cotton and surge the edges. Would that work? Or should I buy flats? I'd only need maybe 12 because I'm only home 2 days a week and DH won't want to fold them and neither will our sitter. So it would be just me using them on his tushy.

So TTM about flats!

  • You'd have better luck with a flannel or jersey sheet. Tight woven cotton doesn't absorb well IMO.

    It all revolves around you.
  • They have jersey sheets at target that are soft and squishy that say 100 cotton. I wonder if those would be fine?

I'm super bored at work today so I'm pondering all sorts of things waiting for someone to come in

wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy the flats tho?

True but I'd also get new fitted sheet and pillow shams if I DIY. :P

What's a good brand of flats? Maybe I'll check out ebay or amazon

  • I think all the Birdseye flats are about equal. Some are larger than others if you want to fold you want want to opt for the larger ones then.

You could use jersey hemp for a DIY option. You wouldn't get the fitted sheet and shams though.

  • I like my Imagine flats from Nickis Diapers. I think they are like 15 bucks a dozen. I like my Osocozy flats better but not for ten bucks more. I like my flats. I use them in my pocket diapers and sometimes I fold them and snappi them if I'm feeling fancy. They're trim, absorbent, cheap, and wash and dry like a dream.

  • I'm a big fan of my GMD flats. And they have two sizes. For stuffing I would go with large.

  • Flats are awesome. If you want to make your own you can use a thrift store jersey sheet and you don't have to serge the edges b/c jersey knit doesn't fray so all you have to do is cut! Do it!
