crinone question

My friend just contacted me that her progesterone level on crinone is 6.5 has anyone had such a low number on it? she is 4 weeks and has been through cancer etc so I am so worried for her.

I might be totally wrong, but I thought when you're on crinone it doesn't really matter what the level on the blood work says because the crinone makes sure the progesterone gets where it needs to go!

Thats what they told her but to have a succesful pg she should be 15 or above for a medicated IVF cycle according to our m/c specialist

Did they mention trying the injectable kind (pio) ?  It seemed to work well for me and it keeps the levels up.  I will keep her in my prayers.

I was put on Crinone when my progesterone dropped below 15, and by the next appointment there was a noticable difference in my bloodwork. If I was her, I would inquire about increasing dosage or switching to PIO to be safe. Better safe than sorry!

I don't know what my levels were before crinone as I started it immediately, but I can tell you I wasn't allowed off of it until my progesterone was at 30. Yes, the levels could be a little different than shown in the blood work, but from what I've been told, it doesn't vary too much. She might need to inquire about something different.

I agree. I would be worried. It's true that not all the progesterone she is receiving vaginally will be reflected systemically in the circulation, but even if this were an unmedicated cycle, she'd want her natural progesterone production to be above that level.

We were told this as well.  

She should ask about something stronger than the gel.  PIO might be best for her at this point.

crinone does NOT show up in bloodwork... or barely any of it because of the delivery system.  My RE never bothered to test my P4 until I switched over to PIO

This is what I thought too.  I would request the PIO if I were her at least for peace of mind.

This! My RE did do b/w to test progesterone, but said don't be alarmed if it comes back lower than you think because Crinone does not show up in bloodwork.
