Cloth Diapering

Stripping failed.

Stripped my Sunbaby diaps that have been repelling. This is what we did;

-Set wash to highest water level.
-Filled up with HOT and two squirts of blue Dawn
-Let diaps soak for 10 hours.
-Completed wash cycle
-Proceeded with ALOT, maybe 10, rinses. Did not see suds any longer.
-Hang to dry

I was so excited after this long process to check if the diapers were back to normal. Rather than putting them on baby, I set a half glass of water on the center of diaper then drizzled water next to the glass of diaper. The water repelled right off. Super, super sad face. no absorption.

Any advice? I'm going to attempt to wash on HOT cycle 4-6 times.

  • This is not an accurate test. Most diapers need compression to absorb. Put one on your kid and try again.

  • I always recommend RLR over blue Dawn, although admittedly I'm sure that isn't ALWAYS the best suggestion. but you could try that.

    They're just cheap China pockets, right? Try some bleach.

     I prefer RLR as well. The only time I will reach for the Dawn for stripping is if my diapers have some diaper cream residue on them. I've also used bleach on all of my pockets before. Once or twice won't hurt them.

    FTR, I didn't mean "cheap China pockets" in a condescending way. Just that I have used bleach to sanitized used pockets that I have purchased and it never hurt them. And if for some reason it did hurt one or two, it wouldn't be a big financial loss.
