Too old for stroller?

Too old for stroller?

When do you think is too old for a stroller? This came up at work. A friend of mine just got a stroller for her 3 year old and honestly he looks too big for it. He is taller than average though so I dont know if that's it. I hate to judge or say this is the age I'm stopping because I only have a 6 month old and don't know what it's like. So what do you ladies think or what has been your experience?

  • DS is three and stroller only for things like the Zoo. I'd do a jogging stroller if I was into jogging though.

  • All my sisters kids were out of a stroller when they were three. She has a two year old now and keeps an umbrella stroller in the car just in case they have to do a lot of walking or going someplace busy, that also helps with the older kids (5 and 6) as they can hold onto the stroller so they stay together.
  • We just got a double jogger so that dd1 can ride with dd2 and until then used our single jogger on long walks. No idea if kids fit in other strollers at this age.

Ds1 was done with the stroller about age 2. However he liked to be carried. The strollers we were looking at for ds2 went up to 50lbs. Ds1at 4 is 40lbs. He tried out the stroller in the store but that has to be the first tome in over a year he was in a stroller

  • Depending on your lifestyle, you could want a stroller for a 3 year old. I used to do daily 57 mile walks when DD1 was 3 and absolutely needed the stroller. I also used it for lots of walking days zoos, malls, etc..
When I took her to DC when she was 4, I gladly handed over my driver's license cash to use a stroller at the zoo after walking throughout the city. Little legs get tired can make cranky children...

My 3.5 years old still needs a stroller. I got a double sit and stand. when I go for walks there is no way she could keep up.

  • My older daughter just turned 4. We are a very active family, DH and I like to go on long walks, so we bring the double BOB with us. She usually walks for as long as she can, then rides on the way back. Her little legs get tired and she just can't walk as far as adults yet, and I want to do a brisk walk or a jog, not a slow walk.

  • Ds1 is 2.5 years old and still rides in the stroller when he's tired, needs to be contained, etx.

  • I would have said the same thing but now that I have two I need to contain both children when out semi frequently. We just went to disneyland and the stroller was crucial. Dd isn't three yet but I don't see that changing in the next couple of months. Chasing a toddler is a lot of work and they do get tired and want to be carried. Not always an option when you have a second or are at least pregnant with a second...

  • My five year old is too old for one now.  I think even at disney or the zoo she would only sit in it for a moment to tie a shoe or something at this point. But definitely at age 3 and sometimes at age four she needed the stroller.
Hey I just met you, and you're my baby. This is your family, we're kind of crazy...Lilypie Kids Birthday tickersLilypie - (tl9S)Lilypie - (zrx8)imageimageimage
