Hanging Wet bag vs Pail and Liner?

We have limited floor space in the baby/guest room and I'm debating between a pail and liner vs a hanging wet bag. Thoughts? Recommendations of specific brands for either of those set-ups?

We decided on a Planetwise pail liner because I was afraid the wet bag might stink after a while. We got a trash can with a lid and use that with the pail liner. It really doesn't take up that much space and I like it a lot.

I say hang the bag.  We have both and the can and liner was used once and now remains there empty and I just use the bag.

  • We use a hanging wet bag. Super convenient to just turn it inside out into the washer. Plus, it keeps the dirties out of DD's reach. My favourite is the FuzziBunz hanging wet bag. It's the perfect size for 2-3 days of dipes, and it stays open, which is great for odour control and ease of use.

  • I haven't started CDing yet, but the moms I have talked to all like the hanging wet bag better then the pail and liners.  All of the moms I talked to said that they use Plantwise wet bags.  Hope that helps!!!!

  • Do whatever works for the space that you have.

We went with a pail and liner, since there was no good place to hang anything. Some people like to keep a hanging wet bag in their bathroom, but we have pocket doors so there's no good place to hang them.

  • Thanks for all your responses!

We did this from the start.  I recently used a kanga hanging wet bag on vacation and really liked it.  Also my 14 month old is starting to be obsessed with opening and closing the trash can.  I did my diaper on Sunday and his hat and a toy were in the bin so....

I'm thinking of switching to the kanga hanging wet bag soon.

I really like my hanging wet bag. It hangs on a hanger on the back of my bathroom door since LO doesn't have a door on his little room. It is completely out of the way, conveniently located in the bathroom for when you're flushing anything. I never have an odor, and it's huge (I never come close to filling it). It has a slit in the top that you just slip the diaper through so you don't mess with zippers. I've heard some people say that the plastic ring in the top that gives it the "pail" shape doesn't hold up very well. I haven't been using it very long so I can't speak to that.

  • We've been using Planetwise hanging wet/dry bags as our diaper pail for over two years now. The fabric has taken a beating and is getting worn on the seams, but they have worked really well for us. No leaking or wicking.

  • I use a trash can with lid too. It was perfect for soaking the diapers when I needed to.
