Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Gassy from Eating Food?

So, my LO is almost 6 months old, so we have just started giving him food. (We are doing BLW.)  He had been STTN pretty well before he started eating solids, but the past few nights he has been waking up and having a hard time getting back to sleep.  I noticed that when I went in to adjust and soothe him that he was letting out some toots, and also that he seemed to want to lay on his back, but when he did he would cry out like he was in pain.  He seemed more comfortable when he was on his side with his knees tucked up, but when he tried to go back to his back he would cry again.  Has anyone noticed their LO is more gassy since eating food?  I wonder if maybe he is just taking in more air because he is eating?  He has seemed more gassy throughout the day, but it seems like nighttime is the only time it really bothers him.  I tried giving gas drops last night to see if that would help, only to have him wake a couple hours in due to a super stuffy nose! :(  So, I'm not sure yet if the drops are going to help or not.  Has anyone experienced this?  I'm also wondering if it had something to do with his bottle nipple, he was on level 2 and it was seeming to be starting to frustrate him with how long it took to eat, so I just switched to the 3s today.  First bottle went down nice and smoothly, he didn't seem to get so antsy and bored with the process.  What are your thoughts?  Gassy from eating food?  Gassy from fighting so hard to eat the bottle?  Thanks in advance for your input and advice!
