If we have a girl, we're team green we want to name her Alyssa with Allie for a nickname. I would prefer to spell it Allie, but kind of wonder if I'm suppose to spell it Aly? Aly just doesn't look right to me. What do you think?
I've always gone by Alli, so both of those look odd to me, but my name is Allison, so it's just shortened. If her name is Alyssa, I would go with Aly. Definitely go with on "l" though.
I debated this same question a few months ago! Our DD is named Alyssa and we call her Ally for a nickname. I did not like the "Aly" spelling and DH said it should have a y in it. All of our friends and family have caught right onto our spelling of Ally for her nickname. I think we made a good choice :-)
We have an Alyssa and her nickname is spelled Aly. Awkward or not, it didn't seem to make sense to add letters that don't exist in her name.
That must be why there are no Katherines nicknamed Kate out there. Since obviously the "e" is added. They must all go by Kat. Wonder why I've never met any........
Go with Allie or Ally. Aly looks off because it wouldn't be pronounced "Al-lee"
Re: Allie or Aly?
i'd spell it however you wantto. i'd probably go for allie or ally.
