GTKY Mothers Day

How are you going to spend the day?

Does your H do or buy you anything special? If he does, do you pick it out or is it a surprise?

If you have kids that are old enough, do they do anything special for you?

Did you/will you celebrate Mother's Day while pregnant with your first?

Re: GTKY Mothers Day

  • This is my first Mother's Day with an outside baby.  I was nine months pregnant with DS last year and DH made me a nice meal.  He'll probably do something similar this year.  I don't expect him to buy a gift.  We don't really exchange gifts except for our birthdays and Christmas.

  • I don't have any plans yet, but I'm hoping that they will involve J making sure that I get to sleep in. Bonus points if he has a coffee ready to go for me when I wake up.

J does typically get me a gift. He usually surprises me when it's a gift giving occasion, but this year I've kind of asked him to buy me a new sewing machine. So we'll see!

A isn't old enough to do anything on her own yet, and I'm not sure if J is planning on involving her in his plans, but I'm kind of playing around with the idea of making one of those stepping stones with her since we will have a garden this summer.

J got me a card for my first Mother's day, and we announced our pregnancy to my parents in a Mother's day card. My mom's face was priceless. Smile

This will be my first legit Mother's Day so I have no clue how it will go. Ideally, I'll get to sleep in then we will go to brunch. This isn't actually likely though. MH hates brunch. If he gets me anything it will be a surprise but I hinted at tickets to Wicked.
We didn't really celebrate while I was pg, but he bought me a 3d ultrasonic and massage package and gave it to me on Mother's Day.

  • How are you going to spend the day? We'll go to church in the morning. Unfortunately DH has to work in the evening, so DD and I will spend that time together.

Does your H do or buy you anything special? If he does, do you pick it out or is it a surprise? Last year he didn't. I specifically asked for a new camera (a really basic one) this year, so I'm getting it.

If you have kids that are old enough, do they do anything special for you? DD is only 9-months, so she is too young to do anything.

Did you/will you celebrate Mother's Day while pregnant with your first? I was pregnant with DD last year. DH made dinner for me, my mom, and my grandma. It was great! :)

    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.

I'll be in the middle of a string of five overnights, so hopefully I'll get some sleep!

DH mentioned that he got me something; I don't know what. My guesses are a diaper or a DVD of season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race Smile

Not sure what we'll do during the evening when I'm awake. Maybe dinner with MIL.

  • This will be my first Mother's Day, so I'm not sure what DH will do. He mentioned tonight that he doesn't know what to get me...I told him I don't need a gift! I sort of already bought myself one...a necklace with DS's initial.

  • This will be my first Mother's Day. We didn't celebrate last year since DS wasn't born yet. I was kind of skeptical that DH would do anything at all since he hasn't asked yet what I want. He tends to just tell me to buy whatever I want when I want it (knowing that I am the frugal one in this marriage) so he can get out of going shopping. I jokingly asked him this evening what he's getting me, and he actually said he's got a few ideas. I am shocked! My day would not have been ruined if he didn't get me anything, but it really means a lot to me that he is putting some thought into it and wants to make my first MD special.

  • This will be my first Mother's Day, so I have no idea what we'll do. I wasn't even pregnant yet last year, so it's my first all-around Mother's Day. I have a feeling both my family and the ILs will want to do something, but I'd rather just have a day alone with DH and DD, especially since it will be my last weekend off before going back to work.

I'm not expecting a present...I bought a new diaper bag because I hated the first one we got, and it was more than I would normally spend on a bag, so I told DH that was my present.

  • We'll go to church in the morning, then I gotta work from 2-10. :( Maybe DH will make me a nice lunch or we'll go out.

DH likes to buy me surprise things. Last year it was a bracelet with a charm with DD's initial on it. I had shown it to him on Etsy. This year he got me a table for my sewing machine as an early Mother's Day gift. So I'm not sure if I'll get anything on that day or not.

I wouldn't say DD's old enough to do something on her own. :)  Last year the ladies at Sunday school made a craft that she gave me. They traced her hand, cut out a bunch of them and made them into a bouquet of "flowers." Very cute. It's still on our mantle.

When I was pregnant, surprisingly DH didn't do anything for me. But our neighbors gave me a Gerbera daisy and a sweet little note. :)

I'm kinda patchy on what I do for my mom for Mother's Day, but this year I did get her a gift. I had seen some really cute teapots through a shop window a few weeks ago, so I went yesterday and got her one. Hope she likes it!!
