Cloth Diapering

CD for twins?

Has anyone CD'ed with twins? I am hoping to do so, but am concerned about finding diapers small enough for the babies once they are born, assuming they will be born early.

Any recommendations for small diapers, or maybe a system that will help handling two at a time?

Thanks guys!

Re: CD for twins?

  • My twins have never worn a disposable! I used lil joeys mostly for the first 6 weeks and then moved to OS. I like that they were aios, they had a cord snap down, and fit as small as 4 lbs my guys were bigger. I also sold them for what I paid for them so that is pretty awesome too. I just threw diapers in to wash before "bed" every night and in the dryer in the morning. I also had enough so if morning happened to be 6pm before I got to them, I still had enough 70 changes worked well. I love, love it!

  • I don't have outside babies yet, but my stash is all prefolds and covers. We went that route to save money and it fits with our life style (camping and traveling, SAHM). I was sure I wanted to do AIO a first, but when I realized how much money they each were, the time spent drying, etc we realized it wasn't for us. There is a premie size prefold that we have that will work when they are very small, however I'm not honestly sure they will get used that much. We are going to use sposies until the cord falls off and depending on their size might not leave much time for the premie diapers, however they will be great doublers in the future! Or burp clothes or cleaning clothes... I have options.

  • Thanks for the input! I'll look into your recs and see what the best ones for me are. CD is so overwhelming, yet it feels manageable knowing you guys did it :)
  • I CD my twins.  At birth they were just under 6lbs and dropped to almost 5.  Lil Joeys and bumgenius NB were the only ones that fit until about 3 weeks.  Then our stash was mostly fuzzibunz NB, with some blueberrys and a happy heiny.  Happy heiny does make premie ones as well.   Oh, and I had some prefolds and rarely used them.
