OT- GTKY poll

Ok, I was going to make this a clicky poll because I heard rumors of them being back, but alas, it isn't working.

So...

How do you wake up in the morning?

1) Do you wake up on your own (I'm kidding.  Do not reply with this option because I don't want to know about it if you get to sleep until you actually feel like getting up.  I cannot control my envious ways.)

2) To an alarm clock ringing

3) To a baby crying

4) To your SO getting up

5) Something I haven't thought of

Re: OT- GTKY poll

  • I wake up to DS crying/fussing about 95% of the time.  Every once in awhile, the planets align in such a way that I will start coming to consciousness just before DS starts crying.  The second way is better, but it's still not awesome.  I really miss weekend mornings where I just peeked around, remembered I didn't have to go to work and then rearranged the blankets more perfectly around me so I could sleep more.

I was just thinking I can't remember the last time I set an alarm because I have a built in one...

  • I also wake up to DH's alarm every weekday at 5:30. And this morning since he decided to let it squawk for a long time, it also woke up DS. I'm trying not to hate DH this morning, but since I'm also trying to give up caffeine (again) it's a tough sell.

    2) My alarm during the weekdays.

A mix of 1 & 3 during the weekends.  But don't be envious of me, It's more of just a habit of getting up in the morning than actually getting enough sleep.  And usually it's only 10-15 minutes before our daughter wakes up.

  • To my 3 year old coming in our room or my husbands alarm. Both are usually around 6am.

  • Never an alarm. DH either works 4am or mid morning, and the 4am days he sleeps in the guest room. Usually it's DD fussing. The odd time it's 1 I feel like the world is my oyster. Just getting dressed while she sleeps feels amazing.

  • I wake up shortly before noon to the sounds of birds chirping and the smell of freshly brewed coffee as my shirtless manservant Jorge brings me breakfast in bed. It's glorious.

Seriously, though, we bed share with A, and we usually wake up for the morning at the same time, and she nurses first thing so I get to lay in bed for a long time before having to actually get up. Sometimes I wake up before her, but she's always awake within fifteen minutes. Now because there's usually actual sunlight when J is leaving, sometimes she wakes up when he does, which effing sucks. The other day she did that, and I kept my eyes shut hoping she's lay back down, so she came over and kissed me all over my face to wake me up. How could I stay annoyed after that? Smile

  • Hehe right now I wake up because its light out side and I'm just tired of trying to fall asleep. Granted if I wasn't achy and in pregnant pain I would be all about the sleep late until I need to get out of bed.

  • During the work week, it's my alarm. On weekends it's either DD1 or DD2. We have an alarm clock that turns green at 8:00 to let DD1 know that she can get up. Generally she runs into our room yelling, "It's green, it's green!" I wish I was that excited to be up and going for the day. :/

  • I wake up to a baby yelling. Very rarely, I wake up to DHs alarm. Occasionally DH gets up with the baby and I get to sleep an extra hour.

  • #2 most days, and for the last 3 months it's been at 4:45 AM. Ugh. On days off it's #5 - other - a toddler chatting and singing. Love that. :)

  • DHs alarm! He gets to work at 6 am Tuesdays and Thursdays and leaves the house around that time mwf. I "should" get up at 6 but I sometimes roll around in bed and snooze til 7 or so.

No baby yet, so I'm taking advantage of this time!

On the weekends, our pup wakes us up. Since we "sleep in" til 7 or so that's late for her breakfast since DH feeds her. But luckily she just bothers DH not me! Hehe

  • I wake up to DD most of the time. Every now and then I wake up to my pregnant bladder or the alarm clock. I can only remember one time in the past several months where I woke up on my own. It was such a big deal I emailed my sister about it... Sigh!
    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.
  • I usually wake up to feed dd and fall back to sleep for a very few minutes before ds busts in our room with " good morning mommy!"
