Had my first OB appt today. I love my OB and she is being very thorough. My last pregnancy I had preterm labor starting at 31.5 weeks, was in the hospital, got steroid injections, etc. etc. DS ended up coming at 37 weeks and was over 7lbs (no GDM diagnosed)!
So I guess I didn't think much about what would be different this time. I will get an early glucose screen with my early labs next week, and again at 28 weeks. I also am hypothyroid and on meds, so I will get that checked pretty frequently. And she is having me go to a MFM consult to see whether I will need P17 injections starting at 17 weeks and/or more frequent u/s monitoring to check cervical length.
I told DH all this and he was like, whoa! This one is going to be completely different! But I'm glad she is being very proactive! Guess I might be telling work a little earlier this time
Anyone have experience with this? What can I expect? Thanks!
Re: 1st OB appt...maybe high risk? Sending me to MFM...
i had PTL starting at 27 weeks (contractions and dilation) with my second and delivered at 35 weeks after 8 weeks of strict bedrest. Also had GD.
This pregnancy I received a cerclage at 13 weeks, started p17 at 16 weeks, i get monthly cervix checks with my MFM and just had my second round of screening for GD today (a 3 hr).
It's not too bad-- gotta do what you gotta do! There will be easy days and hard days and tons of doctor appointments, but it's all to get a healthy baby!
Good luck!
