second tri screening reveals high afp

hey all

just got a call from my doctor that my afp levels are 2.87, just above the 2.5 cut off for normal pregnancy. i have an ultrasound tomorrow to look at neural tube defects and other developmental issues.

 just wanted to connect with other women who have maybe experienced an elevated afp.

This happened to me last time with DD and she was just fine.  It is scary, but hopefully you'll get a good look tomorrow and see that baby is just fine.  Good luck!  Please update after your appointment!

Happened to me too in my 2nd trimester screening. I opted to have an Amnio done because there's no other way whatever to tell if your baby has chromosomal defects and I am a very nervous FTM. Everything came back perfect and I'm glad I had it done just for the peace of mind.
