So I was finally able to see the specialist about the damage done during birth. I have nerve and muscle damage, to the point that I couldn't feel being poked with a sharp stick in certain areas. I also need to go for 8 to 12 weeks of vaginal physical therapy at a minimum. This is like my own personal hell.
That being said, if you are having issues you suspect just aren't normal postbaby stuff, I highly recommend seeing a urigynecologist.
You are not alone. I have a very broken vagina myself, and a very close to broken rectum, from my delivery. I'm currently on hormone therapy and exercises to help strengthen muscles. Boo for broken vaginas!

Did you have a rough birth? I have some rectal issues as well. Are you going to do therapy or just exercises on your own?

DS was an unexpected 10lbs 1 oz delivered in 30 minutes, about 8 pushes. I had 4th degree tearing. The GYN that I'm seeing said my scar is about 5 inches deep and my sphincter is more like a string than a muscle now. Sorry TMI. The doc has me doing keels every day for 2 minutes, then after a month do then for 5 minutes, then afterr a month do them for 5 minutes twice a day, then after a month do them for 5 minutes once a day for the rest of my life. I am also doing local estrogen therapy using a vaginal suppository. No sex for at least another 6 weeks which will take me to about 20 weeks pp. and even then the doc will need to give me the ok first.
As for the rectum, he said it will likely never get much better. I will always have some issues with not being able to hold gas very well and I will never have anal sex (oh well). It's not great but it could be worse.
Oh my word! I'm so sorry! I went to physical therapy once a week for 5 weeks due to my bladder dropping pp. It's weird, but not too bad. They taught me special kegel exercises to do at home, hooked me up to a monitor to check the strength of them and help me to build those muscles etc. PT actually helped a lot and I usually think normal PT is a waste of time. I can walk around without feeling my bladder now, although I can feel it when I jog which stinks bc I really want to get exercising and that's uncomfortable. Nothing like some of you are feeling though. Best of luck for a speedy recovery!
I am sorry you are going through this. My sister had a vaginal prolapse and she says it is still ruined down there. She is insecure about dating because of it.

I completely understand. Ive had a lot of related emotional issues because I feel "broken"

Would you be a candidate for surgery? And were you told future babies need to be csections?
I also am mourning the loss of my old vagina and rectum. I can't tell when my bladder is full until it's coming out, but it has gotten better. I'm better able to control my gas, but it's still a bit of an issue I pooped my pants daily for a couple weeks after baby was born. The OB was going to send me to PT if it wasn't getting better by 12 wks. I'm assuming that my nerve and muscle damage will continue to improves as it has so farslowly, but surely.

Oh my gosh, you poor thing!
What kind of physical therapy do they do for vaginas?
Yeah, I really don't know, there was mention of some kind of machine. My first appointment is the 13th so I'll follow up lol
