Cramping at 16weeks Normal?

I woke up with some painful cramping overnight, like painful menstral cramps. Called my OB's 24 hr line to ask if I should go to the ER. Doctor on call said this is "normal" at 16 weeks, didn't even ask if I had any bleeding or anything. He sounded annoyed to have been woken up. He did tell me to come in to the office at 9:00, just wondered if anyone else had been told this was normal?

I've had some pretty bad cramps.  It is almost always gas pains.

I would just follow your instinct. I have had cramps followed by bleeding and went to have it checked out because I wanted to be sure. Everything looked okay but it was scary. We know our bodies better than the doctor and if it would give you more peace of mind to go see a doc then do it. It can never hurt only help. I hope you get some answers. Praying for you.

My MFM said cramping is normal as long as there is no bleeding or extra symptoms. However if they are severe enough I would make sure to be seen by a doctor just in case.

Thanks. I feel silly going in because I have an US scheduled for tomorrow already but at the same time I know I'll be a mess at work all day if I don't and I'm still in a lot of pain.

This.  I have had cramping since 5 weeks.

I was cramping a lot Ssaturday night, different from the RLP. When I woke up Sunday AM my I was having very light pinkish spotting. I definitely was freaked out. Called my best friend who is in OB residency and then also called the OB on call for my practice, neither were concerned about any of it. Said its very normal only to call back if I was doubled over in pain or if blood was bright red. It all resolved within the next few hours on Sunday but you better believe I had myself on couch bedrest just to be safe. It is scary! Pregnancy has been scary for me.

Update: all checked out well at doctor! Strong heartbeat for both babies and long, hard cervix. He also said it is fine to use a heating pad, which surprised me.

All day yesterday I had terrible cramps, they finally subsided at 10pm

I was super crampy all last week, it felt more like stretching than true menstral cramps but still uncomfortable.  This week I haven't felt any pain.  I would just go with your instincts and if you feel like you need to see the Dr. go for it.
