We got the word today that we are moving to IVF. We are terrified beyond words. I cried all day at work after hearing the nurse say BFN for this cycle. even though i already knew. I do not know anything about IVF but will soon begin pouring over the literature.

Me:35, DH: 39
TTC since March 2011. All bloodword, SA & HSG are normal.
I am right there with you. I get my beta next week- and then will likely be headed down the same road. When my doctor brought up IVF I had a very similar reaction.
Have you considered getting a second opinion? The first RE I was with was only willing to make 3 attempts at IUI and then suggested IVF. After further research (because we are OOP patients) I discovered that he is incredibly conservative with his practice and would not try aggressive medications or IUI's, in fact his stats were high because he preformed more IVF's then IUI's which makes sense in this cash business. Anyway, the new RE I am seeing, although I have not done any research on this, mentioned that he felt Clomid was a medication that was more effective for woman in their 20's. I know that the IUI's are difficult, especially when they come with BFN, but it maybe worth getting a second opinion if you are also OOP patients.
Sorry you have to do IVF, but it is really not as scary as it seems. Just take it one day at a time. Plus it goes by fast. Definitely check out the IF board and you will get all kinds of info there. GL to you!!
