Baby Names

I'm just gonna put it out there.

#1:  I've been sort of MIA from the boards for like a whole trimester, my bad.

#2:  We're inching up on 5 weeks before baby girl is due and we're keeping the name a secret, so I need to bounce the name off of someone and you're the lucky ones.

#3:  Here are the possibilities:

Eve Catherine

Eve Catrin (I would pronounce it like KAT-reen)

Our last name starts with a C, if that helps.

 Thanks!

  • They are both really lovely.

I would lean towards Eve Catrin-- I think it flows better.

  • I'd pronounce Catrin - Cuh- trin.

But in the middle name slot mispronunciations won't matter as much.

  • Is one of them more meaningful to you? If not, it's a toss-up.
  • Catherine is a family name, DH likes it but I just don't love it.  I'd like to give a 'nod' to the name without actually using the exact one.  Our other DD's MN is Lyon (Said like "lee-own" and is a nod towards Leona which was my Great-grandmother's name... I'd like to stick with the same idea with this one, but we just keep coming up short.

  • Both are nice but Catrin flows better.

Agreed. It will be mispronounced but that really won't matter. It sounds more special and flows nicer than Eve Catherine.

Eva Catherine would be very nice, too!

  •  If Catrin has a special meaning to you, I would stick with it. But I much prefer Catherine.

My grandmother was actually born a Catrin, and when she got old enough she changed her name to Kathryn.

  • I would pronounce Catrin KAT-rin. If you're pronouncing the second syllable as -reen I think it's too sing-songy with the ee sound at the beginning of Eve.

    Eve Catherine is lovely, though.

  • I live Eve Catherine much better.

Something about Eve Catrine sounds sing-songy (maybe the ee sound twice).

I agree! I automatically thought latrine. Catrina would work better.
